Enrolment
Enrolment Procedure
Foundation (Prep) enrolments
All Victorian government primary schools follow the statewide Foundation (Prep) enrolment timeline. The timeline advises families when and how to enrol their child at a Victorian government primary school. For more information about the enrolment timeline, visit: Enrolling in Foundation (Prep)
School tours occur in Term 2 each year and can be booked via our school website. Our school uses the Department of Education’s secure digital enrolment system called VicStudents . This means you can submit your Foundation (Prep) application online and receive updates through the system. If you have any questions about the online enrolment process, please contact our school.
Please be aware that you will be required to show proof of residence for in zone and out of zone applications. You will also be required to provide a copy of your child’s immunisation history and birth certificate as a part of the enrolment process.
Enrolment Process
Thank you for considering Woodlands Primary School for your child to attend. At Woodlands we currently have an Enrolment Boundary around the school within which all enrolments will be accepted.
Our enrolment process is as follows:
1) If you are in our school zone and have supplied the correct documentation you can be assured your child has a place at Woodlands Primary School. (This can be checked by heading to https://www.findmyschool.vic.gov.au and typing in your address.
2) If you already have a sibling attending, you can be assured your child has a place at Woodlands Primary School.
3) For prospective Foundation students commencing the following year; if you are out of our zone and submit an enrolment, you will be informed via the VicStudents system by mid August. Please do not call or email the school any earlier to find out if you have been accepted as our process will not be finalised.
Other year level enrolments
We also accept enrolment applications for students in other year levels. You can submit a request at any time in the school year using this link.
Eligible students who live within our school zone are guaranteed a place, while students outside the zone may be enrolled if there are available places.

Please do not call or email the school any earlier to find out if you have been accepted as our process will not be finalised. If you receive a placement from another school prior to our process being finalised, it is your decision to either accept that placement (please notify us if you do) or wait and see if you were successful in gaining a place here a Woodlands. We cannot guide you in your decision making.
The availability of out of zone enrolments all depends on student numbers. The number of students leaving and the number of in zone and sibling enrolments. If there are numbers available for out of zone students this is selected by closest to the school not to the boundary.
Enrolment Procedures
Foundation (Prep) Enrolment
Once you have attended a school tour and decided to enrol your student at Woodlands, you can collect an enrolment form at the end of the tour. Enrolment forms are not handed out without attending a school tour unless you are a current family. Please be aware that you will be required to show proof of residence if you are within our school boundary (detailed information will be on enrolment form for accepted documentation). You’ll also be required to provide a copy of your child’s immunisation history and birth certificate as a part of the enrolment process. Enrolment forms will not be accepted with all required documentation.
Transition for Foundation Students
Our extensive transition program commences in Term 4 and transition days are held during late October, November and early December. Once your enrolment at Woodlands is confirmed, you will be notified of the transition days.
At these transition sessions, the students will get the chance to spend time with all of Foundation teachers and Specialist staff. Parents will also be invited to attend sessions to learn about life as a school parent.
Our School Zone
Our school zone is available on findmyschool.vic.gov.au which hosts the most up-to-date information on school zones in Victoria.
Students residing within our school zone are guaranteed a place at our school. Your school zone is determined based on your permanent residential address.
Our school manages enrolments using the Placement Policy to ensure that students have access to their local school. Students may enrol at another school if there are available places.

Enrolment Restriction
Our school has an enrolment restriction under section 2.2.16 of the Education and Training Reform Act 2006 (Vic). The restriction limits enrolments for the 2027 school year.
Our school will accept enrolments from:
- students who live within the school zone
- students with a sibling attending the school at the same time
- students enrolling on compassionate grounds, in exceptional circumstances.
Depending on available places, our school may be able to accept a limited number of out-of-zone enrolments according to next closest to the school.
The department will review this enrolment restriction yearly and provide updated advice as necessary for the subsequent school year.
